Pastor of Worship and Spiritual Formation – Vertical Church (Fort Branch, IN)

Vertical Church is seeking a Pastor of Worship and Spiritual Formation—a dual-focused pastoral role that supports our mission of Making More and Better Disciples of Jesus Christ by shaping gospel-centered, Christ-exalting worship and building clear pathways for spiritual growth across the life of the church. This pastor will model Christlike character, shepherd the church family, and raise up leaders who love God and live for His glory.

Key Responsibilities

The Pastor of Worship and Spiritual Formation plans, crafts, and leads weekly worship gatherings in collaboration with the Lead Pastor, ensuring services are theologically sound, creatively engaging, and spiritually formative; develops and disciples worship leaders, musicians, and creatives, equipping them for excellence and spiritual maturity; builds a team-led worship culture marked by humility, growth, and leadership multiplication; organizes and leads special worship gatherings throughout the year; supports and continues developing Vertical’s “Growth Track” spiritual formation strategy for all ages and stages; equips and trains leaders for small groups, classes, and mentoring environments; oversees discipleship pathways including new believer follow-up, baptism, and foundational teaching; fosters spiritual health across staff, volunteer leaders, and the congregation; provides pastoral presence, counsel, prayer, and support as needed; participates in preaching, teaching, and officiating responsibilities as assigned; and collaborates with staff and ministry leaders to strengthen the overall vision and culture of Vertical Church.

Qualifications

Successful candven experience leading worship in a local church context, including competency on guitar, keyboard, or another lead instrument; a strong theological foundation and alignment with Vertical Church’s mission and values; a demonstrated ability to teach, disciple, and lead others toward spiritual growth; and the relational maturity to shepherd people with care, discretion, and joy. The role also calls for a willingness to chart a new course where improvement is needed while honoring what’s working well, along with practical ministry skill using Planning Center, click tracks, stems, and other service-planning/production tools.
