Youth Pastor – Hills Church (Farmington, NM)
Hills Church is seeking a Youth Pastor—a disciple-making leader who will shepherd middle and high school students and help build a thriving, Christ-centered youth ministry. This role will champion Hills Church’s mission to make disciples by creating environments where students are hosted, invited, led, loved, and equipped to serve—while partnering closely with families, volunteers, and the broader church staff.
Key Responsibilities
The Youth Pastor will develop effective youth ministry infrastructure and systems; lead a Sunday High School gathering (grades 9–12) and a Wednesday Middle School gathering (grades 6–8) centered on worship, biblical teaching, community (small groups), and fun; recruit, train, and develop a strong team of adult and student leaders; cultivate a “Serve Movement” that mobilizes students to serve in Kids and Youth ministries; plan and lead a meaningful summer experience (camp, missions trip, or similar); ensure the youth ministry is integrated into the life and mission of Hills Church (not siloed); participate in regular staff meetings and function as a full member of the pastoral staff (including occasional weddings/funerals and other pastoral duties as needed); maintain availability for key ministry moments like Christmas and Easter; and provide leadership for part-time staff and volunteer teams while reporting to the Executive Pastor.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will bring a growing and evident walk with Jesus, a clear calling to student ministry, and alignment with Hills Church’s doctrine and values; a college degree is preferred, and a ministry degree (or current enrollment in a ministry program) is ideal. Candidates should have at least two years of youth ministry experience (church context preferred); strong teaching and communication skills that connect with today’s students; demonstrated ability to build teams, recruit and develop volunteers, and lead with both warmth and clarity; solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives with excellence; and the maturity, integrity, and humility of a servant-leader. A background check and drug screen are required prior to employment.
